Nicholson Unger Tucker

August 13, 1933 — July 24, 2017

Nicholson Unger Tucker, 83, of Myrtle Beach, SC, died Monday, July 24, 2017. Nick was born August 13, 1933, raised in Charleston, SC, the son of Richard Dabney Tucker and Dorothy Hemphill Tucker.  He graduated from Carlisle Military School and in 1958 earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina.  He was a mortgage banker and land developer in Myrtle Beach, SC.  Nick was the President of Atlantis Construction Company and was on the Board of Directors of Camden Military Academy.  He was a member of the Carolina Yacht Club and St. Cecilia. Nick was happiest in a duck blind, with friends of equal interests, in freezing rain, fog, and a faithful Golden Retriever at his side.  His years living at Limerick Plantation where duck hunting was paramount, with dove hunting, fishing and maintaining his rice fields filling the hours, made his home a hunter's paradise.  When business took him up the coast, he was quick to find new happy hunting grounds and mixed them into his business world.  His life-long dream of learning to fly was realized then and he could wing his way wherever he needed to go whenever he wanted.  We will hope he is winging his way upward now to a life of peace and rest. He is survived by the mother of his children, Elizabeth Smith Tucker; three children, Nicholson Unger Tucker, Jr. (Karen), Elizabeth Smith Tucker and Dorothy Courtenay Tucker and three grandchildren, Eleanor Sargent Tucker, Helene Alexander Tucker and Charlotte Hemphill Tucker.  Nicholson was preceded in death by a son, Richard Hemphill Tucker. Burial, at a later date, will be private.  Memorial donations may be made to Pompion Hill Chapel Foundation, 64 Meeting St., Charleston, SC 29401.
