To know her was to love her. She was the epitome of a southern lady who was selfless; caring about others' comfort first and foremost. Naomi was all about family. She loved Big Band music, dancing, fashion, and entertaining family and friends. Her favorite saying was, "This is grand!"
Naomi was a lifelong member of Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and for years served as a volunteer for the Spring Tea Room, and was a member of the Altar Guild. She was instrumental in the management and success of Kennedy's Economy Drug Store on Ashley River Rd., one of the earliest pharmacies, established by her husband, West of the Ashley. Naomi served as a docent at Middleton Place for many years and is remembered on the Wall of Fame at the Soup Kitchen.
She is survived by her four children, Anne K. Crane (Allan) of West Ashley, Henry A. "Bubba" Kennedy, Jr. (Bernie), of Johns Island, David W. Kennedy (Lisa) of Meggett, and Elizabeth K. Welling (Owen) of West Ashley; six grandchildren: Lisa Weil, Jonathan K. Tennant, Patrick Ryan Kennedy, Lauren Kennedy, Bailey K. Stritch, Joseph H. Welling; four great-granchildren; her sister, Betty Ann Huggins and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by granddaughter, Amy Tennant.
The family would like to thank care givers Francina Brown (deceased), Rhonda Lewis, Trudy Johnson, and Southern Care Hospice for exceptional, loving care.
