Mike Hammer

Johns Island, SC - Michael V. Hammer Mr. Michael Valentine Hammer, 49, of Johns Island, SC, passed away March 30, 2013, at his home. A native of Santa Barbara, CA, he was the son of Katherine and the late Paul I. Hammer, Jr. A certified Welder by trade, Mike was a member of the Boilermakers Union and was employed with Metal Trades, Inc. of Hollywood, SC. A veteran of the United States Air Force, his career field consisted of government contracting, which enabled him to travel throughout the United States and Alaska, as well as overseas travel to Jamaica, Egypt, Afghanistan, and Japan. A loving family man, Mike was especially proud of and adored his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman and boater. He was also fond of all types of music, and was well-known for his quick wit and his unique sense of humor. In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his wife, Sheridan LaRae Bayne-Hammer, 3 daughters: Tami Denise Power, Melissa Yvonne Kalakosky, Raeann Quadro, 1 son Cody Allen Hammer, 1 sister April Ossmann, and grandchildren Jakob, Alexis Mae, Jadeyn & Jasmyn. The relatives and friends of Michael V. Hammer are invited to attend his Memorial Service at 6:30 PM Monday, April 8, 2013, from the chapel of James A. McAlister Funeral Home. Final Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial Contributions may be made either to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Charleston Animal Society of the SPCA, 2455 Remount Road, N. Charleston, SC 29406.
