Michel Michael Altine, Sr., 80 of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Leah Sturcken Altine, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Roper Hospital. The relatives and friends of Michel M. Altine are invited to attend his Memorial Service at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The family will receive friends between 11:00 AM and 12:45 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Mike was born, raised, and passed in Charleston, South Carolina. He was known to all as “Big Mike” or “Salty Mike” due to a lifetime on the water as an avid fisherman, as well as a great lover of the outdoors. Mike was a longtime member of the Bear Island Duck Club, as well as the Ravenwood Deer Club. Mike was the Owner of the Marina Variety Store Restaurant and Salty Mike’s in the Charleston City Marina for over 40 years. Both establishments have been a local gathering place for Charleston families, business men and women and visitors to the Low Country. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Mike will be truly missed by all the lives he has touched. Mike is survived by his son, Michael Altine, Jr. and his wife, Lisa; his daughters: Christine A. Stocker and her husband, Donald and Angela A. Strickland and her husband, Bryan; four grandchildren: Donald Stocker Jr., Colin V. Altine, Amber and Amanda Strickland and one great grandchild, Mary Leigh-Anne Stocker. He is also survived by his sisters, Lucille Bannister and her husband, Bennie and Brenda Altine Sederbaum. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ann Altine and a sister, Joyce Altine.
