Michael Vincent Waters, a retired Army E8 Master Sergeant and Communications Specialist, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017, in Charleston South Carolina. Mike was 79 years old.Born in Roanoke, VA to Mary Elizabeth and John Thomas Waters. He attended St. Andrew's School before enlisting in the Air Force, thus beginning his career in the U. S. Military and commitment to a life of service.Mike's dedication to others continued into his marriage, his faith, his family, and his community. Mike was deeply devoted to his wife, Ann Marie Martineau Waters. He was also a faithful parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he was a daily communicant and a passionate donor to families through the Christmas Angel Tree program.Before moving to Charleston, Mike raised his family in Lenoir, North Carolina where he worshipped at St. Francis os Assisi Roman Catholic Church.Mike dedicated much of his later life to carrying the message of hope and recovery in his community.A Memorial Service will be held this Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 11:00 AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3871 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Island, South Carolina.Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas Joseph, John Paul, and James Patrick. He is survived in this life by his wife, Ann; his sons, David and Charles (Katherine) Waters; his daughter, Darlene (Dean) Taylor, and his grandchildren, Chase, Isaac, Erika (Rory), Deanna (Kevin), Tyler, Katelyn, Johnathan, and Dallas.In lieu of flowers, Mike's family would like to honor his devotion to the community with donations made to Holy Spirit's Adopt-A-Family Food Drive. As we celebrate Mike's life on Saturday, fellow parishioners will be assembling food packages for local families in need. We know that, if he could, Mike would be packing up food right there with them.'As each one has received a gift, use it to serve on another as good stewards of God's varied grace.' 1 Peter 4:10'For I know well the plans I have in mind for you-oracle of the LORD-plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.'
