Michael Edward Mains

Michael Edward "Mike" Mains died in his home on July 2,2026. He was a resident of Hyde Park Rd, Ravenel, South Carolina.

Michael was born in Charleston, South Carolina at St. Francis Xaver Hospital. He is predeceased by his mother and father Charles Paul Mains, Sr. and Dorothy Nelson Mains. Michael was a 5th. Generation Charlestonian. His spouse, Pamala S. Mains predeceased him. Michael is survived by his son's, Michael Scotty Mains (Jessica) and Christopher Shawn Mains; his daughter's, Constance Mains Moore and Lindsey Schmitt. He often said that he was so happy to have each of his children in his life as he grew older and that they were very supporting and he loved each of them very, very much. He appreciated the deeper meaning that each one of them brought to him and was grateful to have that deeper connection with them as he aged. Grandchildren, Hanna, Makayla, Autumn, Skyler and Darren. He survived by his beloved sister Patricia Mains Ammon (Trisha) (Paul, deceased). God Blessed Michael with four additional brothers and sisters that predeceased him. He loved them deeply and they in turn loved him very much; brother, Charles Paul Mains, Jr. (Chuckie) (deceased) (Mary deceased); sister, Ruth L. Mains Teppersmith (deceased (Ruthie) (Jacquline Teppersmith) (Jae); brother, Brian J. Mains (deceased) and sister, Suzanne MainsShierlock, (Susy) (deceased); nieces, Catherine Ammon Abreo (Cathy) (Eugene Abreo, (Ricky), Nicole Mains Fagala (EJ), Melissa Ruth Long (deceased) (Missy) and Dr. Jennifer Shierlock (Ryan Criner Spouse); nephews, Charles Paul Mains Ill (Maureen, deceased), Richard A. Mains; (deceased), Paul David Smith (deceased); plus numerous grand-nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Michael two former spouses, Susan Lewis Mains (deceased) and Tracy F, Mains (deceased).

Michael retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, he worked in NDT section where he performed Non-Destructive Testing on metals used in shipbuilding, prior to his current position Michael worked many years in the sheet metal shop at CNSYD. Running concurrently his whole adult life he was also engaged in working in the Heating & Air Condition trade, he was veryskilled in fabrication of metals and considered to be a precise, perfectionist and skilled craftsman.

Michael had many hobbies that he enjoyed spending free time on. He was an accomplished woodworker producing many beautiful, functional one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture. He had great success in growing and maintaining many types of indoor/outdoor plants. He aspired to become a great cook in his retirement years enjoying many hours experimenting on oldfamily recipes. One of Michael's best loved hobbies was in relaxing in his pool and hot tub which he did many days. He also traveled and enjoyed "cruising". He worked on many special projects in his workshop for himself and others and would alwaysbe there whenever he was needed. He also had a wonderful eye for home decoration and his home benefited from this talent.

Michael was an extraordinary person with a quick wit, he could just as easily say something outrageous to shock, surprise, or challenge you, as to make you stop, think and then burst out laughing. He lived his life to the fullest. Michael took you at your word and would give his honest opinion if asked.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. God Speed Michael.

A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the home of Michael's very dear friends, John Craig and Elizabeth "Liz" Moore in Ravenel, SC 29470.
