In Memory . Michael J. Bello Entered into rest on the morning of May 2, 2012, Michael John Bello, widower of Josie Dowless Bello, resident of Charleston, South Carolina. The friends and relatives of Mr. Michael Bello are invited to attend his funeral services as follows: the Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the James A McAlister Funeral Home at 1620 Savannah Highway between the hours of 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston, S. C. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, 60 Huguenin Ave., Charleston, S. C. Mr. Bello was born November 19, 1924 in Charleston, S. C., a son of Louis Patrick Bello and Catherine Elizabeth Marino. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Bello was a decorated World War II Veteran, having received two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart among others. He served his country as Combat InfantryMan in the European Theater. Following Honorable Discharge, he further served as Law Enforcement Officer with the Charleston City Police Dept., Charleston County Police Dept., and retired from the Naval Weapons Station, Goose Creek, S. C. and became a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association, Columbia, S. C. Surviving are his two daughters, Dorinda A. Gardner, Michele E. Bello; one son, Michael J. Bello, Jr.; One brother Louis P. Bello, and three step-daughters, Cheryl Bishop, Debra Bowers, Dianne Brennan; one step son, James E. Brennan, Jr.; one granddaughter, Rhonda Lanford; one grandson, Glenn Gardner, and five great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to: Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or Camp Happy Days 1622 Ashley Hall Road Charleston, SC 29407 in lieu of flowers.
