Mayme Platt Pitts, 97, wife of the late Joseph L. Pitts, Sr. passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Hospice of Charleston. Mayme was born on November 15, 1915, in Meggett, SC., a daughter of Pinckney Elias and Mary Davis Platt. Mayme was a 1931 graduate of Memminger High School. She loved to bowl and was an avid bridge player. Mayme was preceded in death by her husband JL (Jack) Pitts, Sr. her son, Robert A. Pitts and her three sisters, VerLeatha Busick, Lillian Hoppman and Pearl Forrest. Mayme is survived by her son JL (Jack) Pitts, Jr., (Virginia) and daughter, Cheryl P. Clair (Billy). Grandchildren include Michael K. Pitts (Jan), Kelly P. Duggan (James), Sean J. Pitts (Sharon), Ashley C. Linder (David), W.R. Clair, IV (Angela), Amy C. Kofke (Cameron), Mark J. Clair (Jennifer) and Sarah Lynn Pitts. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren. The relatives and friends of Mayme Platt Pitts are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a Vigil Service at 6:45 PM, this Wednesday evening at the James A.
