Massimo Giovanni Ubertini

July 19, 1941 — May 15, 2011

Dr. Massimo "Max" Giovanni Ubertini, 69, of James Island, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Max was born in Rome, Italy on Saturday, July 19, 1941, the son of the late, Mario Ubertini and the late Pierna Palazzoli Ubertini. He was baptized in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and educated at the University in Rome. Max was a retired certified physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was an accomplished athlete and was the U.S. representative to the Italian Olympic Committee. For many years he coached swimming and enjoyed teaching young swimmers. Max is survived by the love of his life, Judith H. Anagnos , his loving sister, Enrica Ubertini Chinca, his brother-in-law, Carlo Chinca and his maternal uncle, Marcello Palazzoli. The family will received friends this evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The relatives and friends of Dr. Massimo G. Ubertini are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 89 Hasell St., Charleston, SC 29401. The Rite of Committal will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Huguenin Ave., Charleston, SC 29401.
