Mary Virginia Jones Wolff

Virginia Jones Wolff, 73, entered into eternal rest on the evening of September 20, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Carl E. Wolff, Jr. for over fifty-four years. They were inseparable and shared a love that many will never experience. She was devoted to her two children, her six grandchildren, and her very large extended family. Virginia was born on January 24, 1940 in Charleston. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, graduated from Bishop England High School and was a life-long active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Virginia was Office Manager on the waterfront at White Stack Towing for over thirty years and also operated a successful catering business. She was an active member and past president of the Women's Transportation Club. Virginia was instrumental in starting the basketball teams at St. Joseph Catholic Church and also coached the girls basketball team and served as Athletic Director for many years. She was the local representative for the Diocese of Charleston State Basketball Tournament and was recognized many years ago by having the annual State Sportsmanship Award named in her honor. Virginia was a founding member of the Bishop England Triple B Booster Club and served on the School Board for Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. She was an avid sports fan and could be seen and heard at any gym where her grandchildren were playing sports. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Carl E. Wolff III and Lisa Wolff Herbert and her husband Robert. She is also survived by her sister, Kitty LaTorre and her husband Mike as well as her grandchildren, Mary Jane Wolff, Jeffrey Wolff, Griffin Herbert, Kennedy Herbert, Taylor Herbert and Emily Herbert. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward C. Jones, Jr. and her parents, Edward C. Jones, Sr. and Agnes M. Jones. She touched many lives with her strength, her unending fighting spirit, her smile, and her quick wit. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Wolff, Jr. are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday evening, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM.
