Mary Grassman Mitchum

Mary G. Mitchum 79, was born on December 21, 1942, and passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022. Mary graduated from Rivers High school, class of 1963. Mary later married her sweetheart Melvin on November 25, 1967.

Mary was the proud mom of two boys, Paul Mitchum and Toby Mitchum; grandmother of Kayla Murphy, Brittany Mitchum and Amber Mitchum; and great-grandmother of Liam Barnes and Charlotte Murphy.

Throughout most of her adult life Mary played key roles with Kairos Prison Ministries, enjoyed attending her church and fellowship with her church family.

Mary enjoyed the beach, warm weather, all things purple, but mostly enjoyed her grand-children and great-grandchildren. On any given day she could be spotted riding her adult 3 wheeled bike anywhere and everywhere throughout West of the Ashley and Downtown Charleston. Mary was an inspiration to thousands and was loved by so many and will be incredibly missed.

The relatives and friends of Mary G. Mitchum are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Charleston First Assembly of God, 2957 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the March of Dimes or Charleston First Assembly of God Foreign Missions is greatly appreciated.
