Mary Louise Schabel

Mary Louise Schabel died peacefully with her daughter and son-in-law by her side on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Lowcountry Community Hospice House in Summerville, South Carolina, after a long illness.

Born to Alicia and Richard Heilenday on May 19, 1950, at Margaret Hague Hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Mary attended St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing and Hunter College in New York, New York. She spent many years working as a Registered Nurse, most of them at St. Francis Hospital and the Medical University of South Carolina.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Heilenday and Alicia Zourdos and her beloved son, Colin Stanley Schabel.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Samantha Stockton (John); grandson, George Foster of Austin, Texas; her brother, Mark Heilenday of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her sister, Alicia Heilenday of Charleston, South Carolina; nephews, Stephen Schabel, Jr. and Kevin Heilenday; as well as her nieces, Kathryn Coleman, Kirsten Danielson, Kimberly Trombetta, Alicia Danielson, Katie Grant, and Kristy Heilenday.

Services will be held later this fall.
