Mary Agnes Jones

Charleston, SC - Mary Aldous Jones, 90, formerly of Pawley's Island and widow of Freasie L. Jones Jr., died December 22, 2014, in a local care facility after a long battle with Alzheimer's. The relatives and friends of Mary Aldous Jones are invited to attend her Graveside Funeral Service 2:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Ashley River Road, Charleston. The family will receive friends between 12:30 & 1:30 PM that same day at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Online condolences may be offered at www.JamesAMcAlister.com. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Mary was born September 3, 1924 to Dorset Walter Sr. and Mary Lyons Aldous. She was raised in Charleston along with her siblings. Mary graduated from Bishop England High School and worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in secretarial services. Her hobbies were bowling and sewing. Mary is survived by two children, Kathy Blackman of James Island and Wayne A. Blackman (Jeanette) of Summerville, her sister, Jean A. Thomas (Jack) of Charleston; she was a loving grandmother to Kevin M. Kulp (Renee) of Harrisburg, PA and Amy C. Moseley (Chris) of Columbia, SC, and four great-grandchildren, Jordan and Bandon Kulp and Jack and Abby Moseley. Also surviving are two step-children, Douglas Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC and Stephen Jones of Columbia, SC, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Dorset Walter "Whitey" Aldous Jr., George C. Aldous, and sister Leona A. Hiott. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made either to Caris Hospice (Healthcare), 3751 Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC 29461, or to the National Alzheimer's Foundation, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY, 10001.
