Mary Gale Elam, 88, of Charleston, wife of the late Frank I. Elam, entered into eternal rest on November 12, 2015. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Mary Gale Elam are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 16, 2015 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway. Gale was born in New York on August 12, 1927, a daughter of Nicholas Tipton Gonzales and Grace Southworth, and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. With her husband being in the Air Force, they left San Antonio in 1952 to travel the world. They finally settled in Charleston when Frank retired in 1975. Her life's passion was her family, but she also loved horticulture and numerous arts and crafts such as painting, ceramics, decoupage and candle making. Gale was very active in Charleston social activities like The Charleston Yacht Club, South Windermere Garden Club and Bridge Club. She is survived by her sons, Frank N. "Mick" Elam and his wife Cindy and Matley W. Elam and his wife Megan, twelve Grandchildren, ten Great Grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and a daughter in law, Veronique Elam. Gale was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald R. Hendrick and Gregory L. Elam. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
