Mary Virginia McClintock Crawford of Charleston, SC, widow of Alexander Spencer Crawford, entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 13, 2016. The relatives and friends of Mary McClintock Crawford are invited to attend her Funeral service at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at St. Philip's Church. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery followed by a reception at the Carolina Yacht Club. Mary was born on November 12, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois but was raised from an early age in Asheville, NC. She was the daughter of Ernest LeRoy McClintock and Mary Calmes Smither McClintock. She was a graduate of St. Genevieve in the Pines and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She was a teacher in North Carolina Schools for many years. A talented painter, she was a lifelong student of the arts. Mary was a member of St. Philip's Church where she served on the altar guild, the flower guild, and as a church mouse. She was also a member of the Colonial Dames of America, Ladies' Benevolent Society, Gibbes Museum of Art, Preservation Society, The South Carolina Historical Society, Historic Charleston Foundation, The South Carolina Huguenot Society, Albemarle Supper Club, and Ivy Garden Club. Mary is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth C. Hamrick and husband, Brown; her sons: Alexander S. Crawford, Jr. and wife, Anne, and Mark T. Crawford and wife, Tucker. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Buz Morris, Mimi Morris, Alex Deas-Hamrick, Caroline Hamrick Evans, Mary Crawford Guerry, Elizabeth Hamrick, Molly Hamrick, Torrey Crawford, Spencer Crawford, Collins Moe, Anne Merrill Crawford, Foster Moe and Mallory Moe. She is also survived by two great grandchildren: Caroline Morris and Rowland Evans. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Caroline Crawford. The family is very grateful for the loving care Mary received at Bishop Gadsden for the past 10 years. Memorials may be made to Edisto Island Open Land Trust, P.O.
