Mary Joan Clarke

Mary Joan "Joanie" Clarke, 83, of Ladson, wife of Robert Clarke, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Saturday, March 21, 2015, surrounded by family. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clarke are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway. Joan was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 29, 1931, a daughter of Richard and Wilhemina Bartling Walsh. She attended schools in New Jersey, where she met her groom and love of her life of 62 years. She was the secretary for the family trucking business, RC & Sons Trucking, for many years. Joan was a member of The Sons of Italy and the Red Hat Society. After retirement, Joan and Bob enjoyed many years of traveling and cruising around the world together. Joan is survived by her husband Bob of 62 years; sons, Wayne Clarke and his wife Renee, R. Scott Clarke and Jeff Clarke and his wife Lissa; her daughter in law, Leslie Clarke; Grandchildren, Ryan Clarke and his wife Jill, Melissa Clarke and her husband Paul, Jillian Nash and her husband Adam, Michael Clarke, Casey Clarke, Cory Clarke, Cody Clarke and his wife Savannah and Ziva Clarke. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Robby, Keegan, Sean, Owen, Tristan and baby Liam due in July. Joan was predeceased by her son David Clarke. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hollings Cancer Center, 86 Jonathan Lucas St. Charleston, SC 29425. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the caring staff of Aging Gracefully and Intrepid Hospice, for the outstanding and compassionate support and care.
