Martha Elvina Rabb Moran

February 17, 1931 — April 30, 2009

Martha Elvina Rabb Moran, 78, of James Island, formerly of Folly Beach and the wife of Joseph Edward Moran, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 30, 2009. She was born in Charleston, on Tuesday, February 17, 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph Anthony Rabb and the late Teresa Clare Redmond Rabb. Martha attended Cathedral School and graduated from Bishop England High School in 1949. She married Joseph E. Moran, Sr. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in 1954 and raised six children together. A devout Catholic, Martha was a one time member of the Church of the Nativity and a current member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Folly Beach. She was an active school mom, whether serving class lunches on "Hot Dog" days at Nativity School or serving the teachers a hot lunch at Bishop England High School on Calhoun St. Martha was a Cub Scout Den Mother and also went on many camping trips with the Girl Scouts. She was always ready to lend a hand. Martha loved looking for sand dollars and seashells while walking the sands of Folly Beach. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph E. Moran, Sr.; her children, Joseph E. Moran, Jr. and his wife Susan, Dorothy M. Dempster and her husband Dymond, Paul A. Moran, William F. Moran, Mary M. Kinney and her husband Michael, Anita M. Burns and her husband Jeff; her grandchildren, Joseph E. Moran III, Lebby Moran, Robert Dempster, Alyssa Dempster, Ashley Moran and Cody Moran; her brother, Dr. George B. Rabb and sister, Mildred Rabb Thrush. Martha was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Lewis Moran. The Relatives and friends of Martha R. Moran are in invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Folly Beach. The Rite of Committal will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions in Martha's name to either, Pet Helpers 1447 Folly Rd.
