Marjorie Jean (Marge) Palmer, 89, of West Ashley, Charleston, entered into eternal rest at her home on April 7, 2015. The relatives and friends of Marjorie J. Palmer are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2015, at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Burial will follow at Old St. Andrews Churchyard. The family will receive friends at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home 1620 Savannah Hwy. on Friday morning between 11:00 AM and 12:00 Noon. Marge was born May 6, 1925 in Quincy, Massachusetts, the only child of Everett Putnam Leach and Jeanie Blanche Kennedy Leach. She was a graduate of North Quincy High in 1942 and Fisher School for Women. After graduating she married Allie C. Palmer. They traveled to numerous locations while in the service upon settling in Charleston in 1955. After raising her two children, she began her career with Vince Mosely Clinic, later working with William Ackerman, Attorney at Law, Orkin, and for 15 years with Bankers Life and Casualty Co. Marge enjoyed many years of traveling with Top of the Line Tours, playing bridge, reading, and for 21 years she enjoyed water aerobic classes at the St. Andrew's Family Fitness. Marge was a life time Episcopalian who was an active member at St. John's Oakland Episcopal Church. She became a member of the Church of the Good Shepard where she was an active participant in ECW, Daughters of the King and The Good Shepard Program. She will be remembered as a loving mother with a strong will and independent spirit. Marge is survived by her daughter Sally Palmer Tyson (Joe) of Savannah, Georgia, her son Curtis Everett Palmer (Arleen) of Wilmington, North Carolina, grandson Joseph S. Tyson, Jr. of Savannah, Georgia, and great grandson Kelton Mason Tyson of Montgomery, Alabama and a grand dog "Izzy" Palmer along with several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1393 Miles Drive, Charleston, SC 29407, Old St. Andrews Church - Graveyard Maintenance Fund, 2604 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414 or Hospice of Charleston, 4975 LaCross Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
