Marjorie Chinnis Brown entered into eternal rest on January 11, 2021.
She was born July 12, 1922, in Ravenel, S.C. Marjorie was the baby of eleven children, seven sons and four daughters, of Ernestine Chapin Chinnis and Edward Hamilton Chinnis. Her husband of fifty-eight years, Douglas Ray Brown, predeceased her in 2004.
Marjorie was a lifelong member of Ravenel Memorial Baptist Church. She taught the Primary Sunday School Class and served in numerous other capacities. Marjorie graduated from Rice Business College and worked for the Naval Supply Center where she was a Supervisor of the Accounting Department. She was awarded NSC Woman of the Year in1978.
Marjorie was an avid reader and a daily Bible reader. She was a gifted seamstress – bathing suits, daughters’ school clothes and evening gowns. Knitting, crocheting bedspreads, pillows and baby doll clothes were also special talents. Marjorie was an accomplished bridge player and especially enjoyed playing with her three sisters.
Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Beverly Brown Dunbar and her husband, Pat, of Chapin, SC and Linda Brown Scott and her husband, Danny, of Charleston as well as four grandchildren, Celeste Scott Blinston (Greg), Daniel Douglas Scott (Jamis), Patrick Michel DunbarII (Chris) and Daniel Hamilton Dunbar, MD (Andrea). She has six great-grandchildren she adores, Anna Brett, Boone, Elizabeth(Liza), Mae, Hayes and Eleanor. Marjorie has numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Due to the pandemic, a graveside service will be held for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Ravenel United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 342, Ravenel, S.C. 29470.
