Marion Ella Howard, 77, of Summerville, SC, formerly of Johns Island and widow of the late Holland Howard, Jr. died Tuesday February 26, 2019. The relatives and friends of Marion Ella Howard are invited to attend her Funeral Service 10:30 AM Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum of Carolina Memorial Park on Rivers Avenue in N. Charleston. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
A native of Charleston, Marion was born December 28, 1941, a daughter of the late Ida Letha Vose and James P. Thompson. She was a retired wallpaper hanger who managed the S-Mart store. A past President of VFW Post 445, she was also a longtime member of the St. Andrew's Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Marion loved crafts, cross stitch, and mountain waterfalls. Most of all, Marion loved her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marion is survived by 5 children: Yvonne "Bun" Grooms (Bubba Johnny), Charles "Bubba" Howard (Gerri), Holland "Shorty" Howard III (Barbara), Melanie "Little Gal" Edwards (Willie), and Shawn Howard (Kimberly); 12 Grandchildren, 37 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 Grandchildren: Rhonda, Jarrod, Miranda, and Brianna; 1 Brother, Steven Kuzela, her best partner Cecil Carlton, and her best friend Christeen Montgomery.
