Entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 6, 2012, Marie Patton Pinto, the wife of John William Pinto. Marie was born on July 23, 1927, in Kansas City, Kansas (Wyandotte County). She attended Shawnee Mission School in Kansas City and graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing and worked at St. Francis Hospital. Marie lived all her married life in Charleston but loved to visit her family in Kansas. She devoted her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Marie revealed her kind and nurturing spirit to all that met her and was a "mom" or "grandma" to any child that entered her home. She did not judge them, she just loved them. Marie was an avid reader and loved to crochet afghans for all of her children and grand children. "Granda Ree" will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John W, Pinto; her six children, Cathy Doughty, John W. Pinto, Jr., Andrew A. (Tony) Pinto, G. Joseph Pinto, Robert M. Pinto, Cynthia A. Pinto and by Andrew J Britz and Nicky Butler as well as 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Pinto are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM Friday, February 10, 2012, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
