Mrs. Marian Fredrika Carter Stroud, wife of the late Carl G. Stroud, passed away into eternity with Christ Jesus on the morning of April 29, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Stroud was born in Charleston, South Carolina on November 8, 1924, a daughter of the late John Heyward Carter and Marian Beard King Carter. She was a devoted mother who loved rearing her children and adored spending time with her many grands. Mrs. Stroud was a homemaker and business woman whom enjoyed gardening and loved her cat Tinkerbell. She was a true southern lady who loved Charleston, the city of her birth. Being a kind and loving person with a wonderful sense of humor, she enjoyed extensive friendships with people throughout her life. Mrs. Stroud was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children; William A. Brunson III (Bonnie) of Charleston, M. Delores Lynes of Charleston, Linda B. Raymond of Minneapolis, Bruce D. Brunson of Charleston, J. Michael Brunson of Charleston and Emma Elaine B. Mincey of Johns Island. Mrs. Stroud is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, a sister, Betty Margarite Poulnot and numerous family members. She was predeceased by a brother, M. Lewis Carter. The family will receive friends this Sunday and Monday evenings from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. The relatives and friends of Marian Carter Stroud are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 10:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church with burial following in Bethany Cemetery, Charleston.
