Entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 22, 2009, Marguerite Catherine Walker Way, widow of Dennis Bartow Way, Sr., of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Marguerite W. Way are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM Monday, May 25, 2009, at the James A. McAlister Chapel. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends this Sunday evening between 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the funeral home 1620 Savannah Hwy. Marguerite Walker "Marg" Way was born in Summerville, SC on May 28, 1915 , a daughter of James Leon and Catherine Bernadine Leonard Walker. She was the eldest daughter of a close knit family of eleven children. She graduated from Meminger High School and married Dennis Bartow Way of Creston, SC, in 1936. Widowed at age 38, Marg went to work at the Charleston Police Station as a secretary in the traffic division for 6 years. She was then employed by the Charleston Naval Shipyard, where she retired with several commendations in 1978. Marg loved playing bridge every Thursday with her 3 dear friends, Carrie, Beth and Mary. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the National Association for Retired Federal Employees, B.P.O. Does #231, the Avondale Civic Club and volunteered at Roper Hospital for 10 years. Mrs. Way is survived by her daughter, Diane Way Huck and her husband, William; her son, Dennis B. Way , Jr. ; her granddaughters, Denise Relyea, Dawn Holcombe, Katie McElveen, and Lauren Farnsworth;her grandson, Paul Huck as well as seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Henry Walker, Mary Walker, Betty O' Connor, James Walker, Russell Walker and Gloria Moorehead. Mrs. Way was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Linda Way, her grandson, C. Jeffere Relyea, Jr., her brothers John, Bernard and Lawrence Walker as well as a sister, Dorothy Walker.
