Margaret "Flossie" Elizabeth Burn, 96, of Charleston, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009. The relatives and friends of Ms. Margaret E. Burn are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at The Cathedral of St. John The Baptist. The Rite of Committal will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening between the hours of 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. Ms. Burn was born in Charleston on February 16, 1913, the daughter of the late Florence W. Burn and Mary Catherine Furlong Burn. She graduated from Bishop England High School, Class of 1931. Ms. Burn was a cheerleader, a Girl Scout, a member of The Women's Club at The Cathedral of St. John The Baptist and of the Junior Choir for 20 years. She was also a member of Birthright. Ms. Burn worked as a Librarian at Bishop England High School, was a Store Clerk at Eipherd's Department Store and was a Bookkeeper with Furlong Printing. Ms. Burn is survived by her sister-in-law, Ms. Polly Burn; nieces, Susan Cousins, Beth Cecil, Mary Sue Pruett, Catherine Yarbrough; nephew Noel Burn as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was also blessed with specials care givers, Sally, Tess, Stephanie and the staff at NHC Healthcare and Hospice of Charleston.
