Malcolm M. Brennan Sr., PhD, died at his home on Friday, February 28, 2014. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm M. Brennan Sr. are invited to attend the Requiem Mass for the former at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Sullivan's Island. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends between 5:00 & 7:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2014, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston, with the Rosary at 5:00 PM. Malcolm was born on March 9, 1930 in Savannah, GA, the youngest child of Edward C. and Lucy Logan Brennan. He was educated in the Catholic schools of Savannah, and then received academic degrees from Georgetown University, Catholic University, and the University of South Carolina. He was a professor of English at The Citadel for 30 years. Mr. Brennan served a tour of duty in the Pacific as a Naval officer at the end of the Korean War, and again in the Atlantic when the Berlin Wall was erected. Mr. Brennan and his wife were active for many years in preserving the traditional Latin Mass of the Catholic Church. Malcolm is survived by his wife, Katherine Robertson Brennan; their 4 children: Anne Silva and husband Robert of Richland, WA, Malcolm Brennan Jr. and wife Janet of Charleston, SC, Helen Carranza and husband Louis of Houston, TX, and Teresa Pratt and husband Michael of Euless, TX; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Edward Brennan and wife Patricia of Savannah, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Stella Maris Catholic Church, P.O.
