Lucinda Patton Schachte - Charleston The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen T. Schachte are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at St. Philip's Church, 142 Church St. Interment will be private. Lucinda Patton Schachte was born in Columbia, South Carolina and the third daughter of George Kriete Patton and Ann Pybas Patton. She grew up on James Island and graduated from Fort Johnson High School. She attended the University of South Carolina and the College of Charleston. She was an artists' model, an artist, a caterer, a Master Gardener and had been the Director of the Extended Day Program at Porter-Gaud School. She was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. She died quietly and unexpectedly at home on November 2, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, George Kriete Patton, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Stephen Thomas Schachte, her daughter Emily Susannah Schachte of San Cristobal, Mexico, her son Thomas Edwin Patton Schachte of New Orleans, Louisiana, her sister Ann Patton Williams, wife of Robert J. Williams, three nephews and six nieces. She was a voracious reader whose knowledge of numerous and diverse subjects and wise counsel was sought and valued by a myriad of friends and colleagues. She was most proud of her two children, to whom she imparted her joyous spirit and love of humanity. Gone too soon and sadly missed, her journey over, may she now Rest in Peace.
