Lucille Waldrop Baker, 96, widow of the late William Furman Baker and the late George Waldrop, passed on to heavenly glory on Friday, February 16, 2018. She was surrounded by loved ones at her daughter's home on Johns Island, where she lived for many years. The relatives and friends of Lucille Waldrop Baker are invited to attend her Funeral Service 3:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens on Hwy. 61.
Lucille taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Johns Island and St. John's United Methodist Church. She served as president of the Baptist Women's Missionary Union and was a current member of Adams Run Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling in multiple leagues in the Charleston area.
Mrs. Baker is survived by three of her children, Sally Inabinett of Charleston, Georgia Bozard of Charleston, and Rachel Chandler, of Texarkana, Texas. She was preceded in death by her children, Lucille Vidrine and Dorothy Smith, and her grandson, William (Bill) Smith, whom she raised as her son.
