Louise Reeves Mcmillan

January 21, 1922 — January 14, 2021

Louise Reeves McMillan of Charleston, SC, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 14, 2021.  She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas A. McMillan, Jr., her son, Thomas A. McMillan, III, granddaughter, Leigh McMillan and great-grandson, Keaton Ambrose Elmore.  Additionally, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Channing, Ruth and Hoap.

Louise was born January 21, 1922 in Charleston, SC. She graduated from Memminger High School and attended College of Charleston, which is where her lifelong love of education and music was nurtured.  Louise loved teaching.  She taught music at Mrs. Till's Kindergarten in Avondale, where in a simpler time many of the pupils were children of Broad St. attorneys, and the stories go that truly little business was conducted when Mrs. Till's school recitals and performances were scheduled as they all closed shop to attend.  She felt her true calling in life was teaching children in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Children's Choir at Ashley River Baptist Church, where she was an active member. After many years teaching children, she taught adults and loved her friends in the Joy Class at church.

Louise loved playing the piano and played for the Senior Adult Choir at church.  She loved to travel and she and her sister Ruth visited seven different countries collecting memories she cherished throughout her life.

Due to COVID, there will be no service, but it had been her desire for the message to be one of salvation. 'For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.  That whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life'.  It was her desire that each person would have a true relationship with Jesus.

There is a song that began with these words...'What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see.  When I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace.  When He takes me by the hand, and leads me through the Promised Land. What a day, glorious day that will be!'  That has now become a reality for her.

Louise is survived by her daughter Marie Elmore (Jimmy); 2 grandsons: Alex (Sally and their children Zach, Liam, Bryce and Tyler) Elmore, and Kevin (Maddie and their son McMillan) Elmore; and 2 granddaughters: Mandy (George and children, Amanda and Mitchell) Szacik and Lisa (Robert) Garvin.
