Louise Jacobs Cody of Isle of Palms, SC died on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC. She was 85. The relatives and friends of Louise J. Cody are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2017, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Burial at Magnolia Cemetery will be Private. The family will receive friends Monday between 11:00 AM and 12:45 PM at the Funeral Home. Louise was born in Atkinson, GA in 1931 and attended Glynn Academy and Perry Business School in Brunswick, GA. In 1953, she married Roland L. Cody and together they had two sons, Roland Jr. (Butch) and James Michael (Mike). Louise worked at the Brunswick Pulp & Paper Company before becoming an owner/operator of Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouses with her husband, Roland, and his family. Louise overcame childhood polio and went on to become a successful wife, mother, grandmother, businesswoman, community member, and friend who always put others before herself. She loved her church, bible study, and many family members and friends, and was an active and dedicated member of Church Creek Presbyterian. She will be remembered for her strength and determination both in character and spirit, as well as for her generosity, unwavering faith, radiant smile that could light up any room, and easy-going nature that earned her the nickname “Aunt Easy”. Mrs. Cody is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Roland (Butch) Cody Jr. & Virginia Gregory of Isle of Palms, SC; her son Michael Cody, of Seabrook Island, SC; her sister, Edith Jacobs Barkley of Brunswick, GA; her granddaughter, Alexandra Cody; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 174 East Bay St. Ste. 300, Charleston, SC 29401 or to Church Creek Presbyterian, 2234 Plainview Dr., Charleston, SC 29414. Many special thanks to the staff of the CICU at Roper Hospital for all the love and care they gave to her and her family.
