Louis Patrick "Louie" Bello, 92, of Charleston, SC, son of Catherine Marino Bello and Louis Anthony Bello, and loving husband of the late Jean Graf Bello, passed away October 9, 2014, in Columbia, SC. The relatives and friends of Louis P. Bello are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery on Huguenin Ave. The family will receive friends between 4:00 & 6:00 PM Sunday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy., Charleston. Louie is survived by his three children, Dawn Walters and her husband Sam of Irmo, SC; Pat Bello and his wife Pam of Raleigh, NC and Christopher Bello and his wife Pam of Auburn, CA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Alan and Christian Walters of Columbia, SC, Tony Bello of Morehead City, NC and Missy McLamb of Brooklyn, NY and four great-grandchildren. After graduating from Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC, Louie served at the Tangier Rock Lighthouse and on Okinawa as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, or in the "Hooligan Navy," a nickname he proudly called his military tribe. After his service in WWII, Louie became a wine salesman and manager for the Henry J. Lee Company in Charleston, SC. A lifelong member of Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal service organization, Louie devoted himself to family, faith and Christian values and will be remembered by his personal catchphrase, "enjoy life."
