Loretta Wade Wirth

Loretta Wade Wirth, 95, of Hanahan, SC, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 13, 2023, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Loretta W. Wirth (“Aunt Rita or RiRi” to many) was born in Charleston, South Carolina on October 3, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche Olsen. She graduated from North Charleston High School. After graduation, she went to work as an operator and secretary at Pittsburgh Metallurgy and later she worked at Airco Alloys. Rita was a long-time member of Dorchester-Waylyn Baptist Church and more recently a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. Rita married Gene Wirth in 1969. They never had children, but she was surrounded by all of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom she loved dearly. She devoted many years to caring for her great nieces and nephews so their parents could work. Aunt Rita had a gentle, loving, soul and she treated everyone with kindness, generosity and love.

Rita was preceded in death by Joseph Olsen (Father), Blanche Olsen (Mother), Gene Wirth (Husband), Sonny Olsen (Brother), Steve Olsen (Nephew) and Betty Herbert (Sister).

She is survived by Bobby Herbert (Brother-in-law) and Pat Olsen (Sister-in-law); her nieces and nephews, Robert Herbert (Lisa), Sandy Sawyer (Bill), Barbara Hinton (Allen), Terri Rodgers (Johnny), Debbie Tindall (Roy), Stanley Olsen, Jr. (Michelle), Valerie Olsen and Connie Glover (Gary); her great nieces and great nephews, Brian Hinton (Jessica), Brandon Hinton (Angela), Ryan Rodgers (Katie), Griffin Herbert, Kennedy Herbert, Taylor Herbert, Emily Herbert, Betty Anne Sawyer, Paige Sawyer, Charles Tindall, Lacey Tindall, Michael Olsen, Tiffany Fein, Sara Davis, Jeremy Glover, Kenneth Glover, Hailey Glover; and sixteen great-grand nieces and nephews.
