Loretta Robinson Brockenfelt

Loretta Robinson Brockenfelt, 91, of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully October 5, 2024. She was born August 30, 1933 in Grays, SC, daughter of the late Marcus Robinson and Myrtle Owen Robinson. She was married to the late William "Brock" Brockenfelt for 65 years.

Loretta is survived by her children: Gail Hallex, Jim Brockenfelt (Denise), and Mark Brockenfelt; two Grandchildren: Hunter Hallex and Delaney Brockenfelt; a Great-granddaughter, Jordin Tomphson; her niece, Linda Lee; nephew, Jerry Brockenfelt; and friend, Belinda Kowalski.

Loretta graduated from the MUSC College of Nursing. She was an RN at MUSC and retired from Roper Hospital after years of dedicated service.

In her free time, Loretta was a longtime member of the Air Harbor Garden Club and was for years an ardent player in the neighborhood Bridge Club. She and her family loved to vacation, especially to the Great Smoky Mountains in the fall. Her true hobby, however, was going with her husband to just about every ballgame the kids played at the playground and in high school.

The family of Loretta Robinson Brockenfelt will receive friends between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston.
