Larry Eugene Chesney, 66, of James Island, the husband of Pamela Lewis Chesney, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Hospice Center. He was born in Anderson, IN, a son of Vera M. Partain Chesney and the late Harold E. Chesney, on Wednesday, April 12, 1944. Mr. Chesney was a Sr. Service Engineer for General Motors for 37 years and a Volunteer Deputy Sheriff for Boone County, IN, before retiring to South Carolina. He loved riding motorcycles, restoring old cars and a special place in his heart for dogs, especially his canine friend Cracker. He was a compassionate man who had a life full of giving. Able to fix anything, the consummate handyman, took great pride in his house and yard. Mr. Chesney's granddaughter, Emily was the light of his life and he found such joy in each and everyone of her accomplishments. He always put everyone ahead of himself, humbled by the loved he received. Mr. Chesney had a way about him that made everyone know how special they are. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Chesney was a great friend and a good man. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela L. Chesney; his children, Shawn Chesney and his wife Kathy, Amy Beasley and her fiancé Scott Bays, Drew Kirbus and his wife Tiffany, Ashley Speidel and her husband Tommy; four grandchildren, Emily Chesney, Grant King, Noah King, Tyson Kirbus; two special friends, Tian Criffieth, Rachael Causey; his brother, Sam Chesney; his mother, Vera Chesney and his father-in-law and best friend, Paul G. Lewis. He was predeceased by his daughter Jessica Chesney and a brother, Bill Chesney. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 15, 2010 between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Larry E. Chesney are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Charleston. The burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island.
