On September 19, 1963, God blessed us with a precious baby girl and on the morning of April 22, 2022, He mercifully took her to her heavenly home. Kerri Beth Wertz Kitchens passed away at her parents' home, surrounded by family. She was diagnosed March 5, 2021 with Stage IV Colon Cancer. She fought a courageous fight, always displaying her sweet demeanor.
Kerri’s greatest joy was being mother to Emma, whom she loved dearly. She worked in the Insurance industry as a Property & Casualty Insurance professional with AIAM and CISR designations. Most recently Kerri worked for Covenant Insurance Group (formerly McKenna Insurance Agency), where she was known for her professionalism and excellence in customer service. Kerri loved her job and worked throughout most of her illness.
Kerri enjoyed spending time with family, her dog Bella, and close friends. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and reading on the beach. The following verse describes Kerri well: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" (II Timothy 4:7-8). Kerri will be missed by all who knew her.
Kerri was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Walter R. Tumbleston and Lillian B. Tumbleston, and paternal grandparents Alfred Stevenot and Alice W. Stevenot, her uncles Rev. James W. Herron and John Richard Wertz.
Kerri is survived by her daughter Emma Claire Kitchens; her parents William W. Wertz and Claire Tumbleston Wertz; sister Alesa W. Jones (Edward Jones), brother William W. Wertz, Jr. (Jennifer Moore Wertz); nephews Adam Jones, Daniel Jones, and Alex Wertz, all of Charleston. Kerri is also survived by her aunts, Chelsa Herron of Rock Hill and Lucia Wertz of North Charleston; uncle, Dr. James Stevenot (Charlotte) of Waycross, Georgia; and her special cousins Robert Herron (Susan) of Rock Hill & Warren Herron of Greenville, who loved and supported her throughout her illness.
