Kenny Salmorin

May 21, 1958 — June 16, 2023

Adrian Kenneth Salmorin, Jr., 65, of Charleston, SC, husband of Michelle M. Salmorin, entered into eternal rest on June 16, 2023. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Dr. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, this Wednesday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.

Kenny was born May 21, 1958, in Newark, NJ, a son of Adrian and Florence Salmorin and was the oldest of three children. Kenny lived in New Jersey until the age of 9.  His parents divorced and his mother moved to Charleston. She remarried Howard Mason and they lived as a family while summering with Dad in New Jersey. He graduated St. Andrew's High School and the University of South Carolina.

His first job was at the BiLo in Shopper's Port on Savannah Highway and then with Kroger until that chain closed stores in the area. He moved to Harris Teeter for many years and worked most recently as a Sales Manager for Seel’s Outboard in Mt. Pleasant. It was hard to go anywhere without running into someone that he either worked with or sold a boat to or knew through selling boats or helped with their boat….you get the idea! Countless people have come back through the years to tell him what an impact he made on them or what a mentor he was in their careers.

Kenny and Michelle have two children, Elena and Adam. He was a home body and loved being with his family. Given the choice of going out or staying home…home always won. He loved hard and unconditionally and was fiercely protective of those that he did love. Kenny also had a kind side, a silly side and a playful side. He loved to play pranks on the children, chasing them down the hall and scaring them silly. Tickle fights and pillow fights were a regular! Kenny would let Elena put makeup on him and do his hair, as long as he got to watch football!! How many Matchbox Car cities did he and Adam build on the carpets in the house that no one was allowed to touch? We held hands anywhere we went and he gave great big hugs. He cried at times when his children left the house-he would have been happy to have them live with us forever! His pride in them was immeasurable. Kenny would often say to me that he could not believe that we have two beautiful, kind, smart children, AND they could both play some mean ball! There wasn’t a practice, game or tournament missed-he took advantage of every opportunity to help his children be the best they could be.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Michelle, his daughter, Elena and son, Adam. He is also survived by his sisters, Lisa Holcomb (Joe), Teri Salmorin (Roger) and stepfather, Howard Mason. His loss will be felt by many.
