Kenneth Edward Harder, 78, of Charleston, SC, the husband of Sadie Rosalie (Martinez) Harder, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Mr. Harder was born in New York City, NY on September 8, 1933, a son of the late Elizabeth Rose (Kiss) and Robert Charles Harder. He honorably and faithfully served our country as a Mineman in the U.S. Navy for over 33 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. Mr. Harder was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fleet Reserve Association, Association of Minemen and the Military Officers Association of America. He is survived by his loving wife, Sadie R. Harder; daughter, Linda J. Braecklein; son, John K. Harder; nine granddaughters, Nichole Graybill, Elizabeth Grant, Melanie Underwood, Ashlie Harder, Danielle Graybill, Theresa Braecklein, Destinee Harder, Christine Harder and Jane Harder; grandson, Tracy C. Braecklein, Jr.; great granddaughter, Valarie Underwood; two great grandsons, Israel Grant and Camden Parker; two sisters, Betty Box and Mitzi Garvey. Mr. Harder is preceeded in death by a daughter, Valarie A. Graybill; a son, Raymond J. Harder; a sister, Virginia Snyder and a brother, Robert S. Harder. The relatives and friends of Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth E. Harder are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd. Charleston, SC. The Rite of Committal with Military Honors will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St. Beaufort, SC. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the Rosary at 6:30 PM on Monday, November 7, 2011at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
