Kathryn Francis Lamb Godawski , widow of the late Eugene S. Godawski, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at age 83. The relatives and friends of Kathryn F. Godawski are invited to attend her Funeral Service 11:00 AM, Monday, July 11, 2016 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy., Charleston. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 10, 2016, between 4:00 and 6:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home. Kathryn was born to Ann Ruth O'Shaughnessy and Meredith E. Lamb on September 30, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois. She is survived by her four children: daughter Terry Fisher (John) of Charleston; son, Eugene Godawski Jr, of Moncks Corner; daughter, Cheryl Ritter (Stephen) of Simpsonville; and son Michael Godawski, of West Columbia; three grandchildren: Gregory Fisher (Tanessa), Lindsay Lawing (Eric), and Nicholas Ritter; and three great-grandchildren: Cooper and Owen Fisher, and Benjamin Lawing. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Godawski in 2013. Kay graduated from Southside High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and then enlisted in the Navy. This is where she met Eugene (Ski), her husband of 57 years. They traveled with the Navy for years and created their family together, and they finally took roots in Charleston. Kay owned the successful Kay Godawski Tax Service for over 40 years. Taxes were one of her many passions and her success was attributed to her work ethic. Another one of her passions was bowling. She was a lifetime member of the Charleston Women's Bowling Association and was inducted into the Greater Charleston USBC Association Hall of Fame on January 21, 2012. She created many long lasting relationships through bowling and found one of her best friends for over 50 years, Judy Peloquin. Kay was also a member of the American Legion Post 179 in West Ashley. She served the Legion for many years and will be missed at her spot there. Kay was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Charleston Rifle Club. Kay's favorite passion was no doubt her family, and she was known as Beba. She always made sure that everyone was taken care of and deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We all remember the summer trips to Folly Beach and the weekly night out with family and friends that she always made sure happened. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Emergency Relief Fund, C/O American Legion Charities, PO Box 361623, Indianapolis, IN 46236-1626.
