Kathleen Phillips Richter of Charleston, widow of Ernest J. Richter, died Saturday, January 16, 2010. The relatives and friends of Kathleen Phillips Richter are invited to attend her Funeral Service at at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church. Burial will at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Mrs. Richter was born June 25, 1924 in Lumberton, NC, the daughter of Colin Houston Phillips and Myrtle Barnes Phillips. She was a member of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Richter was a graduate of Salem College and of North Carolina State University, where she studied textile design. She was a designer for Fieldcrest Mills in North Carolina and New York City. She volunteered for many years with the Girl Scouts, the Garden Club of Charleston, and Crisis Ministries. Surviving are her son Eric J. Richter and his wife Stephanie of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and her daughter Kathleen Marshall of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Georgia Ann Richter, Mary Alice Richter, Trapier K. Marshall IV, and Adele V. Marshall. She was predeceased by her son-in-law T. Keith Marshall III. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Franke Home for their outstanding service and care.
