Kathleen A. Boyd, a beloved teacher and devoted mother, passed away on May 22, 2026, in Charleston, where she was born on October 6, 1956. Kathleen dedicated her life to education, passionately teaching in the Charleston County School District, where her impact on students extended far beyond the classroom.

A member of her church choir, Kathy found joy in singing and had a special love for Elvis Presley's music. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks and experimenting with new recipes for her family, always creating a warm and welcoming home. Kathy also adored birds and kept feeders around her yard so she could enjoy watching chickadees, wrens, and cardinals. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and spirit, and the care she gave to others.

Her love for music was matched only by her love for her family. She is survived by her husband, Eddie Boyd; her children, Rachel Boyd (Joey), Kevin Boyd, Kyle Jackson (Leslie), Chris Jackson (Alyssa), and Bradley Jackson, her grandchildren, Caleb, Aubrey, Owen, and Olivia, her brother, Marion Rhode, and her sister, Libby Harmon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Velma Louise Rhode, and her brother, Raymond Rhode.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff at Ashley Gardens Memory Care and Crescent Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

A Celebration of Life for Kathy will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
