Kathleen B. Reynolds

Kathleen Becker Reynolds, age 94, of Charleston, SC passed away on Friday June 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.   Kay's family will receive friends between 5:00 & 7:00 PM Friday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road, James Island. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road.

Kay was born December 20, 1926, in Rochester, New York. She is the widow of Robert M. Reynolds (Conway, SC), and the daughter of the late Howard C. Becker (Kingston, NY) and Anna Mulcahy (Killaloe, Ireland). Kay married her brother Howard’s Navy mate, Bob Reynolds, on May 20, 1949. She fell in love with Bob and Charleston. She was educated in Catholic schools in Elizabeth, New Jersey and graduated from Jersey City School of Nursing. Kay was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps in 1948. She nursed a short time at Los Angeles General Hospital, before beginning her long nursing career in Charleston. She retired from MUSC Hospital as a nursing supervisor.

Kay was blessed with four wonderful children: Mark (Cindy), Jim (Jacqui), Pat (Mark) and David (Jennifer). She was also blessed with seven grandchildren: Adam, Abbie, Scott, Caitlin, Christopher, Lauren, and Rachel, along with seven great-grandchildren.

Kathleen was a lifelong member of Nativity Catholic Church on James Island. She leaves behind many dear friends and neighbors.

The family would like to thank everyone at the Roper Hospice Cottage for their kind and compassionate care of their mother in her final time.
