Katherine E. Hammersley

Charleston, SC - Katherine Ellen Hammersley Katherine Ellen Hammersley entered into eternal rest on Wednesday March 25, 2015 after a brief illness. A private Graveside Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Miss Hammersley was born December 2, 1927 in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late George C. and Bertha Martin Hammersley. She graduated from Rock Hill High School, after which she attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill prior to moving to Charleston to rejoin her family. Katherine was associated with Max Tannenbaum, C.P.A. for 27 years. After retiring, she went to work for Charleston County. Her skills brought her to the attention of Judge Louis Condon who asked her to work with him in the Clerk of Court's office. After 19 years of service with Judge Condon, she retired again to enjoy time with her family. Katherine loved to work in the garden on Chadwick Drive. A woman of great spirit, she most enjoyed having friends for dinner which she prepared at her home. She supported the Preservation Society of Charleston as one of their longest serving volunteers. Miss Hammersley is survived by her sister and best friend, Sarah Hammersley, and by several nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Preservation Society of Charleston, P.O.
