Judy B. Leifeld

Charleston, SC - Ms. Judy B. Leifeld, age 65, passed away April 26, 2013, in Tampa, Florida. A native of Spruce Pine, NC, she was the daughter of the late Brown Edley and Zola Pitman Buchanan. Mrs. Leifeld was retired from the United States Post Office, where she served as a Data Entry Clerk. She was perhaps best-known by Charlestonians as a founder of Captain Don's Seafood. A sweet and loving woman, she was especially proud of her grandchildren, and was known as someone who would do anything to help others. She is survived by 3 children: Donald W. Leifeld of Charleston, SC, Ronald D. Leifeld of Kansas, & Lynette "Sissy" Holsapple of Charleston, SC; 5 Grandchildren: Heather Nienke, Jessica Leifeld, Amanda Mitchum, Jared Leifeld, and Miranda Mitchum; 2 sisters, Billie Westerman, Florida, and Jo Edge, North Carolina, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, BIlly Mitchum, and her brother, Jack Buchanan. The relatives and friends of Ms. Judy Leifeld are invited to attend her funeral service at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 1, 2013, from the chapel of James A. McAlister Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Christ-St. Paul Cemetery in Hollywood. The family will receive friends between 6:00 & 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Flowers will be accepted.
