Joseph S. R. Keating

February 26, 1988 — August 14, 2014

Joseph Sebastian Keating was our gift from God, and we will be forever grateful. He was born February 26, 1988 and entered into eternal rest August 14, 2014. The relatives and friends of Joseph Sebastian Keating are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial 2:00 PM Monday, August 18, 2014, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston 29407. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends between 5:00 & 7:00 PM Sunday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. He is survived by his parents Joseph and Macarena Keating, his sister Encarna Robinson (Heith), their children Nathaniel, Maria-Isabella and Keating, his sister Belen Vitello (Gregory), their daughters Paloma and Gianna Maria, paternal grandmother Donna Ware Keating, maternal grandparents Jose and Francisca Medina and many, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was truly created out of the love that Joe and Macarena have for each other. He spent his whole life surrounded by this love. We played with him as a little boy and joked with him as a grown man. Joseph attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and Bishop England High School where he wrestled and played football. He graduated The Citadel in 2010. He was a faithful, lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was a Sunday School teacher. He was so special that he was chosen as the Godfather for all five of his nieces and nephews. Our family attended Mass together every week of his life. He had childhood friends that he remained loyal to all his life and made great friends at The Citadel. He was an Eagle Scout, Civil Engineer, and member of the Knights of Columbus. Most of all he loved to laugh, dance and sing. We loved his humor and enjoyed singing with him especially in the choir, and loved to see him dance especially with his sister Encarna. We are so proud of him for all he did. He was a good boy and good man. His demeanor was extraordinary. He was always kind and never mean. He was a saint among sinners and now he is a saint among saints. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic School - Father McCarthy Catholic Education Fund (843-556-0801, blesssac@bellsouth.net, www.blsac.org).
