Joseph Francis Ferri, Sr., 81, of Charleston, husband of Barbara Pistey Ferri, passed away on September 8, 2011. Born in Charleston on September 17, 1929, Joe was the son of Anthony and Marie Ferri. He served proudly in the Navy during the Korean War, following which he was an electrician for many years. Joe will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for his kind heart, strong faith, and charm. He loved boxing, Quarter Horses, singing, and most especially, dancing. Joe is also survived by five children, sons: Joseph Jr. (Cindy), Peter (Lauren), and Michael (Kathleen), of Charleston, son: Timothy (Martha), of Dayton, Ohio, and a daughter, Laura Donnelly (Ed), of Charleston. He also loved doting on his twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. Joe also leaves behind two loving sisters, Marie Howard and Sister Margie Ferri. He was predeceased by a daughter, Susie, a brother, Tony, and two sisters, Emilia and Betty. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs.Joseph F. Ferri, Sr. are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 12, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will at the Ferri Family Cemetery, 6070 Maybank Hwy. Wadmalaw Island. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM this Sunday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Charleston. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
