Jonathan Andrew Reiss died Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of Sheila and Stanley Reiss. He grew up in Queens, New York, graduated from Princeton and studied molecular biology at Emory University. Jonathan is survived by his remarkable wife and soulmate Suellen. Their journey together was one of joy, growth, discovery and love...so much love!
All who knew Jonathan knew his enormous heart and expansive mind. No one loved more deeply and steadfastly than Jonathan. He was a champion to those in need, he was passionate and compassionate. All creatures great and small were drawn to Jonathan and his limitless kindness, especially his cats Birdie, Twitch, Lyric, and Scruffie. He was thoughtful, spiritual, transcendent and powerful. He was a trained scientist and was quietly brilliant. He was a talented photographer who captured and embraced the value and beauty in everyone and everything. He loved playing chess, and he loved the Mets whether they won or lost. But most of all he loved Suellen and cherished their life together.
In addition to his wife, Jonathan is also survived by his father Stanley Reiss, his sister Holly Reiss, his cousins Nina Osborne and Robert Silvestro, the entire Hawkins family, and countless friends around the world. He is predeceased by his mother Sheila Reiss.
