John Scott Wilson

August 20, 1954 — December 27, 2020

John Scott Wilson, 66, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and Retired Air Force Captain and husband of Courtney Berryman Wilson of Summerville, SC, entered into eternal rest December 27, 2020, at Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC. A Mass of Christian Burial for John Scott Wilson will be celebrated 11:30 AM Monday, January 4, 2021, at Nativity Catholic Church,1061 Folly Road, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will be private. The family will receive friends between 3:00 & 5:00 PM Sunday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 5:00 PM.

John was born August 20, 1954, in Charleston, SC, son of the late Nathalie Gray and Williams Wilson. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Baptist College and his Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. He was an animal lover and volunteered at the Francis Willis SCPA. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and he cherished his time with his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife; his son John Scott Wilson, Jr.; daughter Sara Ashley Coleman (Brian Lewis); son Michael Ryan Smith (Amie Elizabeth); grandson Logan Elliot Smith; granddaughter Sara Adelaide Coleman; sisters Mary Elizabeth Wilson, Ruth Edna Fuller, and Jessie Evans Chan. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Ann Fox.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Nativity Building Fund.
