John Henry Sachleben

February 11, 1934 — April 21, 2019

John (Jack) H. Sachleben died on April 21, 2019, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his sister Betty Van Horn.

Jack was born on Long Island, NY on February 11, 1934. He graduated in 1957, from Cornell University with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Grumman Aerospace for 35 years where he met his first wife, Alice. They had three children and were married for 41 years until Alice’s death in 1999. Jack moved to Charleston in 1986 where he thoroughly enjoyed grits, golf and the southern weather. Jack was immensely proud of John (Trinka), Lois (John) and Mark (Lynda) and his 7 grandchildren and great grandchild.

In 2002, Jack married Marylyn Shank, extending his family to include her four children Linda, Lisa, David and Charles and Marylyn’s four grandchildren.

Although he will be deeply missed by all, his family will find solace gathering at their beloved cabin on Crystal Lake in NH where they have been enjoying summers since 1965.

A memorial mass for Jack will be held on May 3, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11 am.
