John Virtume Quinn Charleston, SC - John Virtume Quinn of 9 Bennett Street passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Born in 1918, John was proud of his service to our country as a United States Marine and World War II veteran in the Pacific Theater. Following the war, he graduated from Georgetown University and went on to serve as the University Registrar for over two decades. He is the father of Maureen Corless, both members of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. Since relocating to Charleston in 2005, John enjoyed serving at the Crisis Ministries homeless shelter. He is survived by a sister, eight children, nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The community is invited to join John's family and friends for a funeral service at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 25, 2010; his funeral mass will be held in Maryland next Tuesday.
