A Time to Be Born John Barrymore Pringle, Sr. was born on July 4, 1943 in Charleston, SC to the late Karl A. Riggs and Alma Pringle-Singleton; he was the youngest of four children: Phyllis Riggs (predeceased), Karl A. Riggs, Jr. (predeceased), and Annette Robinson. He was initially given the name Jack Karl Brown, but one day while in school, he changed it to John Barrymore Pringle. When the teacher called his sister Annette to verify his name, she turned and asked him what his name was; he replied, "It's John Barrymore Pringle." Annette turned back to the teacher and said, "Yep, that's his name." and walked back to her class. A Time to Get John attended Laing High School; after he graduated, he joined the Army and served our country for three years. During this service, his name was altered yet again to Jeri; this time, it was his higher ranking officer that changed his name because they both shared the first name of John. He also became the tailor and financial lender to his fellow Army mates, thus earning the name of entrepreneur. A Time to Love Another change in name came in the year of 1967 when he welcomed his son, John, Jr. into this world; he was called Father. In 1968, his daughter Geraldine was born. He then bore John, III in 1975 and Dawn in 1978. John did what he could to provide for his family including working for his own father, Karl, fixing trees and making furniture from scratch for use in the home. The name added was carpenter. John made furniture for many friends and family members. A Time to Build Up John moved a few times in his life and when he did, it was always to a home that he would be able to work on. The names added were homeowner and licensed contractor. In the early 1990s, John cared for his ailing father until his death in 1992; he was called a caretaker. After living in New York for many years, John moved for the last time in 2005 to Summerville, SC and added yet another name to the list; this time, it was grandpa! Baby Alton was born and John could not have been happier. John remained in South Carolina and helped his son, John III build his business; he was now a business mentor, lender and banker. Finally, in 2012, he was blessed with Baby Joi, a new granddaughter. He did not get a chance to meet her, but was blessed to see her via pictures. A Time to Laugh John loved to spend time at the Herbert H. Jessen Boat Landing with Charlie, Linda, Ben and Roger. He laughed and talked with them about everything; he was a friend. Before he departed this life, John tried kayaking, but the name adventurer didn't stick. He decided that friend would be the last name added to the list. A Time of Peace and A Time to Die On July 20, 2012, God, in His infinite wisdom, sent his angels to take John B. Pringle, Sr. home. John has had many names in his lifetime of 69 years: Jack, Jeri, entrepreneur, father (Pops'), carpenter, homeowner, licensed contractor, grandpa, business mentor, lender, banker, and friend. He has now been called by God to his new home. He will be missed by all he knew. A Time to Heal and Embrace John leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, John B. Pringle, Jr. and John B. Pringle, III (Kimberly); two daughters, Geraldine E. Rawls (Curtis) and Dawn Beusker; three grandchildren, Alton Pringle, James Moraven and Joi Rawls; one sister, Annette; two nieces, Jametta and Jacquetta Robinson; one great-niece, Amanda; and a special friend, Rosita Franco-Crum and her children, Ralph, Rachel and Reina. Rest on Pop, we will miss you dearly! The Pringle Family
