John Brian Flathmann

November 28, 1974 — January 7, 2019

John Brian Flathmann, 44, of Charleston, the husband of Jennifer Fox, and a Computer & Mobile Phone Repair Technician with CPR Cell Phone Repair Technician, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 7, 2019. He was born in Charleston on November 28, 1974, the son of Johnny F. and Doris Varn Flathmann. After graduating from James Island High school, John Brian moved to Kentucky where he went to work on a farm. He loved to work with his hands and felt at peace while operating the large machines on the farm. It was short lived however, because it was during this time that John Brian’s courageous battle with Kidney disease began. Through his twenty-year struggle John Brian never lost his sense of humor, demonstrating gracious strength that all who knew him would admire. He was full of love for his family and friends through his entire life but on a cruise to the Bahamas on December 8, 2012 John Brian would meet the love of his life, Jennifer Fox. Over the next year and a half John Brian and Jennifer would fall deeply in love with one another. It may have had something to do with John Brian loving to cook and being able to make the most delicious meals from the most basic ingredients but we all know it goes much deeper than that. On March 8, 2014 in front of family and friends John Brian and Jennifer committed themselves to one another and for nearly five years they were simply grateful to wake up next to each other every morning. John Brian is survived by his wife, Jennifer Fox of Charleston; his parents John F. “Johnny” and Doris Varn Flathmann of Charleston; his sister, Laurie Capo and her wife Nikki Joyce of Charleston; his uncle, George Varn; his mother-in-law, Susan Fox; special cousins, David and Sharon Branhan and their children; as well as numerous other cousins and friends who are like family. He is also survived by his loving dogs, Charlie Brown and Bentley. John Brian’s dog Diesel who was his constant companion and comfort throughout his illness precedes him into eternal rest. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Blake Weathersby, Kelly Scott Jeffries, Crystal Poole, Lindsey Riollano, and Dr. Sewell Kahn for the outstanding care and compassion they provided to John Brian. The family of John Brian Flathmann invite you to attend his Visitation at 11:00 AM with his Service of Remembrance at 12:30 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the James A.
